The Florida Literacy Coalition recently recognized Citrus County resident Cherie Byrnes with an Outstanding Literacy Volunteer Award for her extraordinary efforts and commitment to adult and family literacy.

The award was presented at a special banquet held during the annual Florida Literacy Conference in Captiva, Fla.

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners recently proclaimed May as Friends of the Library Month.

The aim of the proclamation is to show appreciation for the continuing crucial contributions the Friends groups have been making to the county library system.

M*A*S*H star slates book signing at Crystal River library...

The Citrus County Library System (CCLS) is hosting M*A*S*H star Gary Burghoff starting at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 16 at the Coastal Region Library, 8619 W. Crystal St., Crystal River.

Copies of his book “Gary Burghoff: To M*A*S*H and Back: My Life in Poems and Songs" will be available for sale and autographing. Seating is limited to 77.

Overflow parking will be available.
