Citrus County Sheriff's Office authorities continue to work at the scene of an officer-involved shooting that happened early Morning morning in Marion County on County Road 484 heading toward Belleview.
Initially, Citrus County deputies responded to an address north of C.R. 39 (outside of the Citrus Springs area). When they arrived on scene, the unidentified suspect opened fire, and a pursuit followed.
The suspect, a white male, 48, who was driving a blue Dodge Ram pickup truck, fired multiple shots at deputies during the pursuit; and although vehicles were damaged, no deputies were injured. The suspect also fired several shots at a Marion County school bus. No children were on board, and the driver was uninjured.
The suspect was shot and killed during the incident. Notification of next
of kin is in process.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is at the scene to investigate the
shooting.
