Frequently Asked Questions

Your burning questions answered.

Yes, we do. Below are the guidelines. They are designed to ensure common community civility.

  • When submitting letters, writers must provide their real name, city of residence and valid e-mail address with their letter to editor@citrusdaily.com.
  • Do not send multiple letters using different e-mail addresses. In other words, don't "stuff the ballot box."
  • No profanity, including words with asterisks in them.
  • No sexual innuendo.
  • No libelous or slanderous statements or assertions.
  • Keep letters to 350 words, maximum. If you need more space, indicate in your letter a justification as to why extra space is requested.
  • Pictures, audio and video are acceptable, if they help illustrate the letter's points. CitrusDaily will also accept photos with cutlines, as a form of thank-you to an organization or individual.
  • Letters will be edited for libel, slander and good taste.
  • To submit a letter, or to ask any questions, e-mail the editor at editor@citrusdaily.com.

CitrusDaily reserves the right to edit all letters to assure adherence to the stipulations above, to edit for length and to not publish letters at all if, in the opinion of the editor, the letter is inappropriate or offensive to common decency. Decisions of the editor are final.

CitrusDaily.com is an intensely local online news source for Citrus County. We do not kill any trees with a printed product, though, so if you want a copy of an article, you may print it right from the site using your own tree.

CitrusDaily.com is a "Citizen Journalist" website, as well. A Citizen Journalist is anyone in the community who sees news, and then reports it. We encourage site visitors to tell us when they see news, either via a news tip, written article, photo or video.

We also have citizen journalists who serve as columnists. For example, Lary MacMillan, Citrus County Veterans Coalition, provides weekly reports from the Citrus County Speedway. If you are interested in becoming a citizen journalist columnist for news, sports, or your civic, church, veterans' group, etc., please let us know. You can also sign up here.

Registration is only required if you wish to comment on an article. Otherwise, you are free to browse the site. If you register, however, your information is protected, and is NOT shared with ANY other party.

All articles are archived daily. A couple of notes:

  • You will find a calendar in the right-hand column of any page, which will take you to to the CitrusDaily Archives. The name of the calendar is, not so accidentally, "CitrusDaily Archives." You can look up articles by many criteria in the archives, to include subject area and date/dates (see the CitrusDaily Archives calendar for more information).
  • If you know a word or phrase from an article, such as "Freezer," you can use the traditional Search Box - at the top of any page - to see all articles ever published with the word "Freezer" in them. Try it for yourself. (And yes, we do have articles with the word Freezer in them). In some cases, this method might be faster than using the CitrusDaily Archives.

  • What's the difference between "Search" and "Archive"? Use "Search" to search by word, phrase or subject. Use "Archive" to search by criterion such as subject and by date/dates/year.
  • Article Flow: Please also note that articles are posted as they are received or written, and are placed in appropriate sections of the site after migrating from the front page. In addition, each article's date of posting is at the top of each article, directly under the headline for that article. And regardless of which method you choose to search - the "Search Box" or "CitrusDaily Archives," you will always see the date the article was published underneath any article's headline.
