Two people were arrested today, and a third is being sought, in connection with the operation of what is believed to be a meth lab at a Homosassa home.
Although no active meth cook was in progress at the residence where Citrus County Sheriff's Office deputies and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents served a search warrant at about 8:30 a.m. today, methamphetamine residue was found on nearly every surface, including kitchen counters, furniture and more.
The CCSO also said that preparations were definitely under way for the next cook.
DEA agents took two subjects into custody - James Bole, 30, and 25-year-old Crystal Dennis, both of Homosassa. The two were transported to Tampa, where they'll face federal charges stemming from the meth operations at 8538 W. Kimberly Court. Citrus detectives and DEA agents have named Jeffrey Carpenter, 32, also of Homosassa, as a person of interest among others in this case. They are anxious to speak with him about the meth operations at the incident location.
Three young children, all under 10 years of age, were also removed from the residence and currently are being sheltered by DCF.
The living conditions at the home were described by CCSO officials as deplorable. Besides the dangers associated with meth labs and their ingredients, trenches of human feces were discovered inside and out, along with holes in the flooring, exposed wiring, broken glass and an open septic well.
County code enforcement and environmental health officials also responded to the scene. The residence is expected to be condemned, and will be subject to destruction after 10 days.
