The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Monday released the 911 call that preceded the shooting death of South Dunnellon resident Michael L. Woff, 48.
Wolff was killed during a shootout with Citrus County deputies during a high-speed chase that rambled in and out of Citrus County and into Marion County.
The incident began after officers responded to the scene of a domestic dispute in which Wolff was involved. Wolff is said to have shot at deputies as they responded to the home, then jumped into his truck and led officers on a chase.
In the 911 call placed before officers arrived, a concerned woman tells the 911 dispatcher from the victim of a domestic disturbance call that she feared for the life of her mother, Irene Rash, who is in her 70's. "I'm scared to death for my mother," the woman said. "He does have guns. He has been walking around the house with the gun up to his chin, saying he's going to kill himself."
The woman said that, a few years ago, Wolff, who had changed his last name from Rash to Wolff, had threatened to kill her family if she ever went over to her mother's house again. Wolff took her mother's car keys and wouldn't let her leave the house, the daughter said. She also said that years ago her mother had tried to leave the house, and Wolff had slashed her tires to keep her from leaving then. The mother was able to leave anyway, she said.
Wolff's 15-year-old son also lived in the home with Irene Rash and Wolff.
"If I go there," the daughter told the dispatcher, "he will probably shoot me, so I can't go over there, but I want to." The daughter said she tried to get her mother to kick Wolff out of the house, but that her mother said she couldn't because he had no place to go.
"So I, you know, just keep waiting for the phone call that, you know, he has killed everybody in the house," she said.
