Troubles with a rented laptop computer caused a Homosassa man troubles with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office today.

The Sheriff's Office found 21 images of child pornography on a computer rented by Andrew James Layton, 21, of 7578 W. Karmac Court, Apartment 6.

Layton had taken the computer in for repair, where a computer technician later found what appeared to be child pornography on it and called the Sheriff's Office. A sheriff's deputy went to the business and saw the pictures, which depicted children in sexual poses or engaged in sexual acts, the arrest report says.

Layton was taken into custody, and a search warrant was issued to search his computer. Later, another search warrant was granted for a search of Layton's residence. Several computers and other evidence were taken into custody. After being read his rights, Layton told an investigator he downloaded child pornography from the Internet, even though he has no Internet connection service.

Layton told the investigator he connects through his unknowing neighbors' unsecured wireless Internet connections without their knowledge or consent. He also said he knew that stealing someone else's Internet signal was wrong.

Layton was arrested today and taken to the county jail, where he was charged with 21 counts of possession of child pornography and with stealing his neighbors' Internet signal.

Total bond was set at $107,000.
