An argument between a man and his girlfriend resulted in the recovery Saturday of two dirt bikes reported stolen out of Volusia County.

Arrested was Jacob Michael Greene, 24, of 4541 Chirper Drive, Lecanto.

A child was bitten on Jan. 1 on Tyler Street in Beverly Hills by a black dog, possibly a Chow.

The county boat ramp in Homosassa is closing on Jan. 5 for critical repairs - which is good for a number of reasons: The ramp and dock are badly deteriorated, the ramp is the only public boat ramp on the Homosassa River and it is heavily used.

Puppy saved after being hit, needs a home

An 8-week old puppy that was saved by a Good Samaritan last week in Floral City is in need of help. The puppy was hit on U.S. 41, and a passing motorist picked it up and called Citrus County Animal Services.

Missing Virginia man found

A man who was visiting friends in Beverly Hills, and then reported missing, has been found.

No other details are available at this time.

On Dec. 16, 28-year-old Lacey Biggs, of West Virginia, left a friend’s house in Beverly Hills and had not been seen or heard from since. Biggs had packed his belongings and left the residence on foot heading south on County Road 491.

Identification made on first body recovered off Homosassa

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office was notified this afternoon that the first body recovered on Monday, Dec. 8, off the coast of Homosassa has been identified using the victim’s and his mother’s DNA.

Citrus County November unemployment rate rises to 9.0 percent

Citrus County's unemployment rate in November rose to 9.0 percent, up from the October rate of 8.6 percent.

In figures released today, the state's Agency for Workforce Innovation, which showed in its previous report that Citrus County's unemployment rate was 8.6 percent in October, now shows the rate as 8.5 percent. No reason was given for the discrepancy.

Beverly Hills woman charged with sexual battery

A 22-year-old Beverly Hills woman was arrested today and charged with lewd and lascivious battery on a 15-year-old boy.

Arrested was Rebecca Parsons, 3166 N. Buckhorn Drive, Beverly Hills.

According to the arrest report, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office received an allegation on Dec. 30 that Parsons had sex with the victim at her home, and that the victim was under 16 years of age.

Schools superintendent's son arrested on Saturday

An Inverness man was arrested Jan. 3 and charged with domestic battery, which in his case, was a felony charge.

That man is Dennis Gene Himmel, 22, son of Citrus County Superintendent of Schools Sandra Himmel.

Biggs, a white male, had been visiting friends at 37 S. Melbourne St. in Beverly Hills for the past week and a half.

Progress Energy announced Thursday the company will retire the two oldest coal-fired units at the Crystal River Energy Complex in Citrus County after a new, advanced-design nuclear plant is built in Levy County.
