The Citrus County Water and Wastewater Authority will meet at 1 p.m. on Sept. 13 at the Lecanto Government Building in Room 166.
Included on the agenda are two utilities: the Springhorn Water System in reference to a Preliminary Order for Issuance of Franchise Certificate, and the WellAqua Company in reference to tariff modifications.
Some Citrus County Firefighters are readying themselves to climb the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs on Saturday, Sept. 11, in honor of the 343 firefighters lost in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
The climb will be in a stairwell at Citrus Memorial Hospital the morning of the 11th, and it will raise money for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
FLORAL CITY - The Citrus County Sheriff's Office has opened a death investigation after a Floral City man died following an argument with another man last month.
On Aug. 29, Sidney David Moody, 47, was at a residence at 12559 S. Istachatta Road in the early morning hours.
A man implicated in the July 15 robbery of Capital City Bank in Citrus Springs has been arrested in Marion County following the robbery there of a SunTrust bank.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday assisted Marion County in tracking down Todd Kobielus, 37, a Marion County resident. Marion County made the arrest, and Kobielus is now in the Marion County jail.
A man doing contract work at the Progress Energy cement plant was injured following a fire at approximately 11 a.m. today at the company's cement plant in Crystal River.
According to Mike Hughes, Progress Energy Florida spokesperson, the man was working for a contractor assisting with repairs when there was an electrical flash as he was working on or near an electrical panel.
The Citrus County Commission on Aug. 24 dedicated the county's new aerial ladder fire truck to the memory of the late Jim Shields, and invited his family to accept a plaque in his honor.
Shields, a non fire-fighting volunteer, was a tireless chronicler of the Fire Services activity through his photography and videos.
Shields, 61, died Sept. 28, 2009 during a traffic accident.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Thursday arrested a 17-year-old youth and charged him with lewd and lascivious battery on a Homosassa girl, 13.
Arrested was Jesse Lee Brentlinger, 10958 Grybek Court, Homosassa.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office today arrested two Homosassa men in connection with a meth lab investigation.
Arrested were Roger Carl Smith Jr., 37, of 6429 W. Folger Court and Dana William Jowers, 32, of 7515 W. Miss Maggie Drive.

The robbery occurred just before 4 a.m. today.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office has arrested an Inverness man for allegedly shaking an infant in a manner that caused serious injury to the now hospitalized 3-month-old baby.
Arrested was Shane Lee Adams, Jr., 19, of Inverness.

The Citrus County Parks and Recreation Division closed Ft. Island Gulf Beach Park to swimming Friday after the Citrus County Environmental Health Department issued an advisory for the beach, warning of high bacterial counts in water samples.
The samples showed fecal coliform bacteria counts were over the state standard.
Citrus County firefighters were called out at 1:36 a.m. today to battle a fully involved fire in a vacant mobile home at 11650 S. Rural Terrace in Floral City.

HOMOSASSA - The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who burst into a Homosassa home at 2:30 a.m. today and demanded a couple's money and drugs at gunpoint.
The robbery occurred at 5616 W. Keating Court, the home of Jarod Walton, 29.
INVERNESS - The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery at Brad's Food and Gas in Inverness.
Deputies were called to the scene at the intersection of South Pleasant Grove Road (County Road 581) and East Arbor Street shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Monday.
