The victim of Monday’s early morning structure fire in Homosassa involving a single-wide mobile home has now been positively identified as Joseph Urbain Labelle, 56, of Homosassa.
Labelle had been living in the vacant mobile home, which was located in a heavily wooded area behind 4029 S. Suncoast Boulevard.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office said today that the Medical Examiner’s office in Leesburg was able to make the positive identification based on medical records secured from a previous pedestrian versus vehicle crash involving the victim. However, the final autopsy report is still pending toxicology results.
Meanwhile, the State Fire Marshal’s office currently is investigating the origin and cause of the fatal fire.
Citrus County firefighters had been dispatched at 4:18 a.m. on Monday, where they found the mobile home fully involved in flames. Additional units from the Sugarmill Woods and Rock Crusher stations, along with the Crystal River Fire Department, arrived on scene to assist with the fire attack and water supply.
Once the fire was under control, and acting on information received at the scene, the mobile home was searched and Labelle's body was found.
