CR man charged with possession of child porn

A Crystal River man was arrested today and charged with 12 counts of possession of child pornography.
Arrested was Scott K. Babcock, 32, of 755 N. Skycrest Terrace, Crystal River.

The Manatee Festival promises fine art, live entertainment and children's activities.
Progress Energy seeks license renewal for CR nuclear plant

Progress Energy has submitted a license renewal application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), requesting 20 additional years of operation for its Crystal River Nuclear Plant.
Accused female thief shows hidden assets to deputy, jail workers

In what has to be one of the more unusual stories of 2008, an Ocala woman was arrested on Thursday after showing hidden assets to a Citrus County deputy.
And later, she had more to show Citrus County Jail workers.
Arrested was Wendy Lynn Baker, 31, of 7060 S.W. 80th St., Ocala.
North Croft, C.R. 486 projects ahead of schedule

The county's contractor for the County Road 486 and the North Croft Avenue projects, Hewitt Construction of Leesburg, is more than a half-year ahead of schedule, according to county officials.
Progress Energy to replace coal-powered plants with new nuclear plant

Progress Energy announced Thursday the company will retire the two oldest coal-fired units at the Crystal River Energy Complex in Citrus County after a new, advanced-design nuclear plant is built in Levy County.

Rounders 4-H Club sends a little Christmas Cheer

At their Dec. 8 meeting, members of the Rounders 4-H Club made Christmas cards to send to kids in local hospitals who will not be able to make it home in time for Christmas.
With a lot of cardstock, glue, some recycled cards and creativity, they are hoping to brighten other kids’ holidays.
