Workers began badly needed renovations and repairs on Monday on the Homosassa public boat ramp and dock.
Homossassa public boat ramp closing for repairs Jan. 5

The county boat ramp in Homosassa is closing on Jan. 5 for critical repairs - which is good for a number of reasons: The ramp and dock are badly deteriorated, the ramp is the only public boat ramp on the Homosassa River and it is heavily used.
Identification made on first body recovered off Homosassa

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office was notified this afternoon that the first body recovered on Monday, Dec. 8, off the coast of Homosassa has been identified using the victim’s and his mother’s DNA.
Boaters find second body floating in Gulf waters

A second body was discovered late this morning by recreational boaters approximately 34 miles off the coast of Homosassa.
Wildlife park new host to 'Don Juan,' other guests

Don Juan the Florida Panther recently joined the ranks of Lu the Hippopotamus as the newest member of the state park family.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) Florida Park Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWCC) partnered to relocate Florida Panther #79, known as Don Juan, to Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park.

Lecanto man accused of slicing man with knife in Homosassa

A Lecanto man was arrested by sheriff's deputies on Sunday and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Arrested was James Allen Swilley, 57, of 6195 Crystal Oaks Drive.
Pet Meals on Wheels Holiday Food Drive to help some special companions

The county’s Home Delivered Meals program has an associated program for the pets of those homebound persons who need help in getting meals for themselves.
Not only the people, but the pets of those people, need a hand in getting proper nutrition.
